Sky TV’s new (ish) CEO, Sophie Moloney, has announced the extension of the National Rugby League (NRL) and New Zealand Rugby League’s (NZRL) exclusive broadcasting rights through the end of 2027.

This deal will cover both regular seasons along with the Finals Series, Grand Finals, the Ampol State of Origin men’s and women’s series, and all the NZRL-run matches involving the Kiwis and the Kiwi Ferns.

Andrew Abdo, NRL Chief Executive says, “Sky’s increased commitment for the duration of this deal will assist in expanding our reach in New Zealand including coverage of our emerging development competitions.”

“There’s around 1 million Kiwis who follow rugby league and partnerships like this play a vital role in growing our fan base and ensuring even more coverage of one of the world’s most entertaining and exciting competitions. We have some of the best athletes in the world and a growing number of those players are from New Zealand,” added Mr. Abdo.

This deal comes weeks after Spark Sport’s acquisition of exclusive RLWC 2021 broadcasting rights. RLWC has historically been broadcasted on Sky TV prior to this acquisition.
