Apple has released the MagSafe Battery Pack, a NZ$169 external battery that snaps to the back of the iPhone 12 series.
The new MagSafe Battery Pack is a 1,460mAh wireless battery that will connect to the iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro, and the 12 Pro Max thanks to the embedded magnets in these devices.
Apple states that the battery pack will charge with 15W of power when connected to an external power source. The output goes down to 5W when used on the go to charge the iPhone.
The company has not released any information on how much of the phone’s battery this external battery will fill on a single charge.
Apple does add that the battery requires iOS 14.7, an update that is not out yet, to work. Given that the current shipping date for the MagSafe Battery Pack is 22-26 July (for Auckland), we expect this new iOS update to hit the market early next week.
