The Apple Watch Series 9 has been revealed, and it comes with an all-new S9 chip, better battery life and a fresh health monitoring feature. Oh, and a new pink colour option.
Announced at the Apple “Wonderlust” Event, the new Series 9 joins the Apple Watch Ultra 2. While the Apple Watch 9 may not look any different from previous models, a lot of the new features are under the hood, like the new Double Tap feature.
As another highlight, the Apple Watch Series 9 is the first-ever carbon neutral product. So, instead of bands that use leather, they will use a new material Apple called FineWoven.

The Apple Watch Series 9 is available for pre-order today and will be available on Friday, September 22. It’s available to order at apple.com.
Apple Watch Series 9: What’s new?
The Apple Watch Series 9 looks the same as its predecessor, meaning the Series 9 comes in a 41mm and 45mm sizes. However, we’re getting a few new colours and watch straps including a new Pink aluminium option. Other options include Starlight, Midnight, Silver and Product Red. There’s also the Stainless Steel options: Gold, Silver and Graphite.
Like the previous model, all cases are swim- and dust-proof, and the displays are crack-resistant.
More significant updates are left for what’s under the hood. The new Apple Watch is equipped with a new S9 processor, the first chip update since the Apple Watch Series 6. This introduces a significant boost in performance and longer battery life, up to an 18-hour battery life.
You can also expect a 60% faster CPU and a 30% faster GPU. Siri is also in the watch, rather than over Wi-Fi. You can also access your health data with Siri on the Apple Watch, being able to ask it different health queries. You can also ping your iPhone thanks to a new generation of Ultra Wideband. The Apple Watch will guide you towards your iPhone wherever it may be.
Moreover, you can expect 2,000 nits of brightness, and it even goes down to just 1 nit of brightness. That’s double the Apple Watch Series 8 on max brightness.
The Series 9 comes with a new gesture, called Double Tap. All you have to do is double tap your index finger and thumb together to access different functions, like answering a phone call, taking a picture, stopping your alarm and more. This will be available next month.
