Dyson has released the coolest product of 2021. A vacuum cleaner with lasers. The new Dyson V15 Detect Absolute Extra, with HEPA filtration is already on sale in the US for US$699 – with the New Zealand release date coming in a few months time.

Speaking about the new laser vacuum, Dyson says: “Some vacuums use LED light to see hidden dust. But all that does is light everything: the dust and the surface. Changing the angle helps, but it still lights up the surface, so it’s difficult to make out what’s there. We wanted to find a way to reveal the invisible particles. We discovered using an eye-safe green laser was most effective – the most visible to the human eye.”
“Precisely projecting a blade of light 7.3m above the floor and angled down exactly 1.5 degrees from the base of the brush bar to reveal hidden particles. So you can see exactly where you need to clean.”
The laser isn’t the only new feature the Dyson V15 has. Inside is a new microprocessor that will monitor the size and quantity of what you’re vacuuming up and can adjust the motor’s power accordingly. Best of all, you can see live data displayed on the built-in LCD screen.
“You might not be able to see microscopic dust, but the latest Dyson vacuum can hear it. Our piezo sensor sizes and counts 15,000 times per second. Dust and debris is picked up by the cleaner head and sucked up through the wand.”
“A piezo sensor ‘listens’ to the vibrations as particles strike the sensitive surface of the cyclone inlet, converting them into an electrical signal. This triggers the motor to automatically speed up, intelligently increasing the suction when more dust is identified – it even counts and categorises particles by size, giving you scientific proof of a deep clean.
