How to buy the Google Pixel Watch 2 in NZ

on

Last month, Google announced its Pixel Watch 2 at the Made By Google event. But unfortunately, as is usually the case, Google’s latest watch won’t be officially coming to New Zealand.

The Pixel Watch 2 is being released in nine countries, the United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom. And once again we’ve missed out here in Aotearoa.

However, the good news is there’s an easy and legitimate way to get your hands on a Pixel Watch 2 in NZ. All you need to do is parallel import the device. This means it will come with foreign charging cables and won’t have any customer support, however it will work fine in New Zealand.

Option 1: MightyApe

MightyApe has announced it will be stocking the latest Google watch and they’re available for pre-order right now.

Parallel importing devices can be a bit sketchy. In the past, it was hard to determine what was a legitimate storefront and navigating through excessive shipping fees and overpriced items could prove difficult.

MightyApe makes it so much easier. This is a legitimate website with a proven history of exceptional customer service and support. It’s NZ-based meaning the watch won’t be shipping from overseas, it will come directly to you from MightyApe’s warehouse located in Auckland.

The Pixel Watch 2 comes in a range of colours and it looks like the availability for each one varies on the MightyApe store. The Black/Obsidian version is slated for release on November 10th, the Champagne Gol/Hazel version November 16th and the Polished Silver/Bay and Polished Silver/Porcelain versions slated for release on November 23rd.

The Pixel Watch 2 retains its predecessor’s circular design and digital crown, but introduces a lighter aluminum housing and reduced glass extent, potentially making room for more visible color options. The familiar click-in-place straps make a return. In terms of colors and bands, the watch offers Champagne Gold, Matte Black, and Polished Silver, adding a new blue band option and additional breathable sports bands.

The device integrates three new sensors, including a stress monitor and temperature sensor, and boasts an improved IP68 dust- and water-resistant rating. Under the hood, the Snapdragon W5 chipset promises enhanced performance and extended battery life, promising 24 hours of use and a 12-hour charge in just 30 minutes.

Google continues its partnerships, featuring collaborations with Fitbit and YouTube Music Premium, providing six months of Fitbit Premium and three months of YouTube Music Premium with every purchase. The Fitbit app will also see a redesign, incorporating AI technology for workout insights, although this feature won’t be available until early 2024. Additionally, the Safety Check feature is introduced to share your location with emergency contacts if needed.

Option 2: BigAppleBuddy

You can also buy the Pixel Watch 2 from BigAppleBuddy.com

However, it’s important to know that the device will be shipped from the US to NZ so it may take a while and will cost a bit more. Also, don’t be fooled by the price, this website is in US dollars.
