Intel has unveiled the latest pair of U-Series chipsets, Core i7-1195G7 and Core i5-1155G7, at Computex 2021.
The Core i7-1195G7 clocks at 2.9GHz right out of the box and maxes out at 5.0GHz per core – making it the first chip in the U-Series lineup to hit this benchmark – while the i5-1155G7 clocks 2.5Ghz and can be overclocked to 4.5GHz.
Both the chips use Intel’s Turbo Boost Max 3.0 technology to reach their maximum clock capacity (stats measured at 28W).
As part of the U-Series family – Intel’s low-voltage processor lineup – the new chipsets operate at the 12W to 28W range and have 4 cores with 8 threads (4C/8T configuration). They will support 64GB DDR4-3200 of RAM.
The U-Series chips will deliver fast-processing speeds at low power consumption rates to the next generation of light and thin Windows-based laptops.
Intel 5G Solution 5000
Intel also announced its 5G M.2 module, called the Intel 5G Solution 5000, which is developed with Mediatek.
This module will support chipsets that clock in at 6GHz or lower and make it easier for laptops to connect with wireless networks (including 5G networks). It is set to appear in more than 60 new laptops by Asus, Acer, HP and many other manufacturers in tandem with the Tiger Lake-U chips later this year.
