Timing is everything. And on the eve of the industry’s biggest launch in nearly a decade (the new PS5 and Xbox Series X) Logitech is debuting a colourful new range of gaming products – namely the new G733 gaming headset (pictured).
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a launch that focused on the colour of the new products as much as the Logitech’s new G-Series Colour Collection.
The marketing around the new range of gaming headphones and accessories is all about their colour. White, Blue, Lilac and Black, FYI. You have to go searching to find out the technology inside their devices (see below).
Ujesh Desai, general manager of Logitech G explains (spins) that the new launches are a reflection of what people want.
“As gaming becomes a bigger part of pop culture, personal expression and style have become a huge part of a gamers’ identity – with that in mind we set out to design a collection of high-performance gaming gear in a fun and colourful way.”
Hmm. The cynic in me thinks that Logictech’s launch of colourful products with little innovation to speak of might be a well-time Hail Mary on the eve of the biggest launches the industry has seen in seven years.
And that’s fair enough.
