OPPO has announced its newest foldable, the Find N3 and it’s set to take on Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold5.
Folding vertically like a notebook, the Find N3 finally brings some competition to the market here in New Zealand.

The find N3 will cost a whopping $2,999 for a 512GB storage and 16GB RAM model. To put that into perspective the 512GB storage and 12GB Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 costs $3,099. And an Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max with 512GB storage costs $2,899.

Design and Durability
- It’s available in Classic Black (with a leather back) and Champagne Gold (with a glass back).
- The Gold device is 5.8mm thick when open and 11.7mm thick when closed, the Black version is 6mm thick when open and 11.9mm thick closed. Both versions weigh 239g.
- The Find N3 is IPX4 splash-resistant and has been tested for 1 million folds by TÜV Rheinland.
Display
- The Find N3 is equipped with a 6.3” outer screen and a 7.8” unfolded screen.
- It utilises LTPO technology with a 120Hz refresh rate.
- The device offers a peak brightness of up to 2,800 nits, surpassing the 1,750 nits of Samsung’s Galaxy Fold5.
Audio
- There are three built-in speakers, supporting left and right channel audio.
Camera Specifications
- The smartphone features three cameras with focal lengths of 14mm, 24mm, and 70mm.
- It boasts a 48MP ultra-wide camera, and a 64MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.
Operating System
- The Find N3 runs on Android 13 with ColorOS 13.2. OPPO confirms it will provide four years of software updates and five years of security updates.
Productivity Features
- The device introduces productivity features like the Global TaskBar and File Pocket which aims to give access to recent files and apps easily
- Boundless View supports two full-screen apps on the 7.8” display simultaneously.
Hardware
- It’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.
- It offers 512GB storage and 16GB RAM. There are no alternative configurations
Battery
- The device houses a 4800mAh battery.
- It supports 67W SUPERVOOC fast charging, which OPPO claims will achieve an 80% charge in 30 minutes and a full charge in 42 minutes.
Find N3 hands-on impressions
I was invited to OPPO’s announcement event in Singapore, where I was able to get my hands on the Find N3. And from my short time with the device, there’s a lot to like here. But it doesn’t provide a drastically different experience than Samsung’s Fold devices. The Find N3 improves on many things but doesn’t push the foldable market to the next level.
The first thing I noticed was the camera bump. This is large, circular and thick, and aesthetically I don’t love it. On paper, the Find N3 has a powerful camera array, and this sort of hardware requires a decent amount of space; it allows for “flagship” camera capabilities, but at the same time, it takes away from the impressively thin 5.8/6mm panels.
The weight is impressive. After using the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 for the last few months, I was instantly aware of how light the Find N3 felt in my hand. A vertically folding phone essentially doubles as two phones stuck together, and it can be cumbersome and tiring to hold with one hand. That is not the case here.
Unfolding and folding the device is effortless. It feels nicer than other foldables I’ve used. It requires barely any force and maintains a firm seal when folded.
Both displays are capable 120hz screens, and navigating them is
responsive and smooth. Brightness is the standout here. The 2,800 nits max brightness is instantly noticeable, and it’s significantly brighter than my Z Fold4.
Multitasking – in which you put two apps side by side on the unfolded screen – is something I don’t do often with my Z Fold4, purely because it’s a cumbersome and sometimes convoluted experience. In my short time with the Find N3, I loved the new productivity features, File Pocket and Boundless View.
File Pocket allows you to access files stored on the phone and drag them where you want them to go, much like a PC. You can open PDFs and documents by dragging them directly onto one side of the screen. Boundless View makes multitasking easy by also dragging and dropping apps where you want them. You can have two full-size apps side by side, have three apps open or even four and easily navigate between them. It’s a much better experience and is a massive positive.
